Denne korte filmen viser moskus i flott høstlandskap på Dovrefjell. Opptakene er gjort over en kort weekend og viser hvilke enorme kontraster fjellet på denne tiden av året kan gi. Faktisk er noen av opptakene der man ser både snø og høstlandskap gjort innenfor en tidsramme på bare 4-5 timer.
På denne tiden er fjellet kan fjellet være veldig uforutsigbar. Gode klær og godt utstyr er svært viktig før en gir seg i kast med slike forhold. Moskusdyrene kan også synes fredelige og ufarlige der de stort sett går og gresser i den sparsomme vegetasjonen. Men de kan være farlige dersom en går for nær. Sikker avstand er 200 meter. Dersom du ønsker å se dyret nærmere ta heller med en god kikkert og du kan sitte på god avstand og observere dyret. Jeg bruker store teleobjektiver som kan sammelignes med en kikkert når jeg filmer nærbilder av dyra.

This short film shows the Muskox in beautiful autumn colours high up in the mountains of Dovrefjell. The recording was done during a weekend and shows some of the rapily change in weather that can occur in the mountains this time of year! The lapse of time between autumn colors and the blizzard is only 4-5 hours between!
Good skills and clothing is essential for trips in the mountains this time of year. The Muskox can look rather peaceful, but don't overlook it's ability to suddenly attach you, they are huge and very fast if they want to! The safety distance to the animal is approx. 200 meter. Bring with you a binocular if you want to study details of the Muksox. I'm using huge telezooms to make close-up of the animals myself.

"Per gives us a glimpse at worlds which we might otherwise never see. The autumn colors in his opening vista are wonderful, but the money shot in this piece was seeing Per at work in a blinding snowstorm, keeping his camera stable in extremely tough and fast conditions. I could hardly get good images of buffalo standing still in 75 degree weather, while Per was out there in a blinding snowstorm shooting moving targets and getting stable footage. His shots are as stable in a 30-mph wind as mine were on the calm, peaceful prairie. That's either extraordinary talent or a really, really good tripod. And a really good shooter doesn't compromise on the quality of the gear, he goes that extra length to chase down the great images. So for bringing us beautiful footage from above tree line, Per wins the first runner-up spot. No prizes, but oh, the glory!"
